Quick Check on Compensation Point
Compensation point --The point reached in a plant when the rate of photosynthesis is equal to the rate of respiration. This means that the carbon dioxide released from respiration is equivalent to that which is taken up during photosynthesis.
The compensation point is reached as light intensity increases. If the light intensity is increased beyond the compensation point, the rate of photosynthesis increases proportionally until the point of light saturation is reached, beyond which the rate of photosynthesis is no longer affected by light intensity.

Spinal Cord aka Saraf Tunjang
Imagine the spinal cord as the superhighway connecting the brain signals to control body movements. If that highway is damaged, the signals cannot get through.
The spinal cord is the most important structure between the body and the brain. The spinal cord extends from the foramen magnum where it is continuous with the medulla to the level of the first or second lumbar vertebrae. It is a vital link between the brain and the body, and from the body to the brain. The spinal cord is 40 to 50 cm long and 1 cm to 1.5 cm in diameter.

Bengkel Persediaan Amali Sains 2016
Bermula 24/3 berakhir 26/3- Bengkel bertujuan memberi pendedahan kepada semua guru Biologi di WPKL mengenai pelaksanaan Amali bermula tahun 2016. Seramai 95 guru Bio menyertai bengkel tersebut yang dikendalikan oleh Jurulatih Kebangsaan seramai 4 orang ~
Kesimpulan : Satu bengkel yang berkesan :)

Locomotion in fish-How fish moves


Fish ~ Endoskeleton
* Water provides buoyancy and support for the fish
* The fish faces the problem of water resistance as water is denser than air
* To overcome this,
i. it has streamlined and slimy body
ii. and scales which face backwards
The fish has strong myotome muscles and fins adapted for swimming.
~Contraction and relaxation of the myotome muscles causes the body and the caudal fin to move from side to side, producing a forward thrust to push the fish forward.
ESSAY ~LOCOMOTION IN A FISH ( 10 marks max)
Fish are aquatic organisms
They face resistance when moving in water
The streamlined shapes –--to overcome water resistance and enable to move quickly in the water.
The skin is covered with scales that have slimy coat---help reduce water resistance
The muscles consist of muscle blocks i.e., MYOTOMES arranged in segments on both sides of the vertebral column.
The muscles act antagonistically.
Contraction of myotomes on one side of the vertebral column and relaxation on the other side
Causes the body to bend in a direction of the contraction
Alternate contractions of the right and left myotome blocks causes body to bend side to side and the tail to bend accordingly.
This produce a forward thrust which propels the fish forward
Presence of fins i.e. dorsal and ventral fins, paired pectoral and pelvic fins.--- for stability
Suggested Answer for 3 marks: SPM Essay 2005
