Respiration Vs Photosynthesis

Brief Account
1. Both processes are dependent on each other..So you should be able to describe how they are related by showing it in the form of schematic diagram.
2. In a case of an essay question, please produce the schematic Diagram first (If it is not given in a question), then you start elaborating by using paragraphs.
3. By doing this method your explanation will flow accordingly step by step and ..
4. even if you carelessly miss out one step, examiner may find your points from the Diagram you produced!!
5. I would encourage you to draw schematic diagram (even if the Qs doesnt ask you to do so...)
6. and write as many points as possible (that you can think of), dont worry about the spelling and grammar so much...as long as the sentences make sense and ...of course use your Biology knowledge !!!

...Browse through your reference book about the differences between respiration and photosynthesis....Produce your answer in a form of TABLE...It is acceptable !

Take note:

  • Compensation point is the point where The light intensity at which the amount of carbon dioxide released in respiration equals the amount used in photosynthesis,
  • and the amount of oxygen released in photosynthesis equals the amount used in respiration.
  • The plant is in an optimum state of equillibrium
  • In biology, the point at which there is just enough light for a plant to survive.
  • This point is reached during early mornings and late evenings.
  • Respiration is relatively constant whereas photosynthesis depends on the amount of sunlight.
  • At the compensation point, the rate of photosynthesis is balanced to the rate of respiration so that the plant is neither consuming nor building biomass.
